The Design Process

LANDSCAPE DESIGN IS A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS

Phase 1 - Pre-Design

Consultation  - Offer a free one-hour site visit with high-level design ideas and plant suggestions.

Site SurveyMeasure and photograph site, inventory existing plants,  slope, micro-climate, and soil condition.  

​

ReportDescribe site challenges and ideas for design solutions. Draft a scaled base map. 

​

Phase 2 - The Drawing Board

Sketches  - Sketch layout ideas on base map for patio, path and planting beds.  

​

Design Concept Plan – Draft CAD Plans, drawings in Planview (bird's eye view) with Elevation or Perspective views (as from a person in the landscape). 3-D models upon request.

Phase 3 - Planting Design

Custom Palette – List of best trees, shrubs, perennials and groundcovers for your site, with images and plant care tips. 

​

Planting PlanFor the location, size and quantity of each plant.  

​​

​

Phase 4 - Time to Dig

Area take-off Plan – Estimate volume of bulk materials, such as compost, mulch, gravel and pavers. 

​

Select ContractorProvide list of licensed East Bay landscape contractors for bids. 

​

Personal shopping –  Hand-select healthy plants from the wholesale nursery and schedule delivery. 

​

Planting Day & Beyond –  Observe planting. Regular visits during the establishment period. 

​
